Developing North West SMEs in Partnership with Goldman Sachs

 

The Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. is a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm that provides a wide range of financial services to a substantial and diversified client base that includes corporations, financial institutions, governments and high-net-worth individuals. Founded in 1869, the firm’s headquarters are in New York and they maintain offices in all major financial centres around the world.

 

From 2011-2015, the Centre for Enterprise, working in partnership with Goldman Sachs, to delivered the 10,000 Small Businesses Programme. The programme was designed to accelerate the growth of high potential small businesses. Participants benefitted from a coherent and comprehensive package of support with a strong focus on structured peer learning and the creation of communities of entrepreneurs. 10,000 Small Businesses UK was a partnership between Goldman Sachs, the Goldman Sachs Foundation and five leading UK universities. Each university partner brought a combination of recognised academic expertise on topics relating to business growth and practical experience in developing entrepreneurs’ management and leadership skills. Each was also an important player in its respective business ecosystem, and was able to draw on a uniquely wide range of skills and resources for the benefit of programme participants. Manchester Metropolitan University delivered the programme in the North West.
