The magazine has a particular focus on employability and features a view from the world of work, with contributions from Paul Smith of PwC and Mike Perls of MC2. They explain what businesses need from modern graduates and how universities can shape the learning experience to provide this.
Professor Luke Pittaway, of Ohio University is also featured and shares his perspective on encouraging entrepreneurship within his own students and explains why they should get involved ‘early and often’.
Speaking about inspire, Lynn Martin, Associate Dean for Teaching, Learning and Assessment said,
“This new magazine has been designed to highlight the fabulous work being done within the faculty, and to focus our attention on the importance of learning and teaching excellence. I hope you enjoy reading this first issue of inspire and please get in touch with any feedback or if you would like to get involved in the future.”
There is also an important feature on those that help learning and teaching to happen, the vital support provided by Management Services Team, led by Sue Hollinshead.
Additionally, each issue will have a theme, the next being widening participation, guest edited by David Roberts. This will be followed by an issue on the student experience, guest edited by Nick Dearden, towards the end of the year.
